"From financial statement reconciliation to dealing directly with clients, my experience in The Shaughnessy Group has been nothing short of eye-opening in learning the craft of investment banking. As a boutique firm, I was able to understand the step-by-step process of closing deals and sourcing opportunities to ultimately help our clients succeed in their endeavors. My initial foray in the world of investment banking began with studying the resources provided by The Shaughnessy Group to understand the processes involved in a step-by-step program, prepping me for the daily tasks I was responsible for. As time went by and the processes and systems were becoming more familiar, the pace was maintained by providing me with more responsibilities and opportunities to grow my experience and skills such as being involved in client meetings and creating targets lists. Eventually, becoming responsible for 4 projects was definitely a welcome challenge and pushed me to be more efficient whilst my line managers provided the opportunities to handle matter independently and speak freely. While initially a bit intimidating (as most internships are), The management team were quick to make sure the whole team was comfortable and competent to complete tasks. Over the first few weeks of working on live deals, you understand the realistic aspects of M&A and investment banking as a whole.
